Sherry Nielsen

Welcome to my website. Hope you will enjoy your visit here. Please peruse though my original, colourful artwork, created with love.

Have you ever been looking for art that represents an area you have travelled. I have a great appreciation for Canada's northwest landscape. I have been currently working on a body of work regarding the Skeena and Bulkley rivers and some other beloved scenes on or close to Highway 16, west of Burns Lake through to Prince Rupert. Another passion is the Yukon, in which I have taken trips to that great open sky, even in the winter. My husband and I even travelled the Dempster Highway to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, in the middle of February, to capture it's beauty and light. After that trip I created a body of work called "A Road Less Traved". The Yukon Winter scenes are from that trip.

I really love driving around western Canada, to collect images for future painting. After all what is there not to like? Every day something is there for your eye to be captivated by it's beauty.

I have done a number of commissions for people who love and have my work. If you have had a longing to get an image you have always wanted painted and my style is making your heart sing, let's talk about making that a reality.

In 1993, I purchased my first pieces of framing equipment to frame my own works. Now it has become Nielsen Gallery & Framing. I have had up to two galleries and frame shops running for a time, but have since scaled back to have Creative Zone in Terrace take my frame orders there. And in Smithers, I am operating my gallery and framing from my home base. This is giving much more time to be dedicated to my passion for creating works of ART.  When I am not painting or framing, you can find me playing on my piano for fun, in the garden, creating fused art glass or handbuilding pottery.

If you have enjoyed your visit here, please tell your friends.

Thanks,

Sherry :)

You can usually find me in my studio on Hudson Bay Mountain Road, Smithers, BC – 250-847-0070.

Description from Merchant:

Canvas is currently my most popular medium to print on. It is suprisingly vibrant with a noticable texture only when viewed up close. A coating is applied which adds UV protection as well as allowing the canvas prints to be safely handled and wiped with a damp cloth. The canvas print can be sent rolled up or hand stretched onto 1.5 inch deep stretcher bars. Breathing Color Lyve Matte Canvas (19mil, 450gsm, textured, matte poly-cotton canvas with no OBA's) PHOTO PAPER Epson Premium Luster (10mil, 260gsm, extra smooth, luster, resin coated photo paper) Ilford Gallerie Prestige Smooth Pearl (12mil, 310gsm, extra smooth, pearl, resin coated photo paper) Epson Legacy Baryta (12mil, 314gsm, smooth, satin, baryta photo paper) ART PAPER Epson Legacy Fibre (19mil, 314gsm, smooth, matte 100% cotton art paper) Epson Legacy Etching (20mil, 314gsm, slightly textured, matte 100% cotton art paper) Your image is printed onto specially coated aluminum with dye sublimation inks. The result of this process is a vibrant ultra glossy print on an extremely durable surface. Aluminum is not printed on site but great care is taken to prepare your digital files so that the results will be spectacular. Aluminum is only available in certain sizes (8x10,8x12,11x14,11x17,12x18,16x20,16x24,18x36, 20x24, 20x30, 24x30, 24x36, 30x40), so if aluminum is not available when ordering you have chosen an incorrect size.
